COUNTY — Applications are now being accepted for the upcoming 2020 UC Master Gardener training class.
The training class teaches research-based sustainable landscape practices. Certified Master Gardeners then extend that knowledge to residents of the county through workshops, newspaper articles, garden helplines, social media and other outreach efforts.
Topics included during the training are botany, soils, entomology, irrigation, propagation, and more. Classes are taught by experts from the University of California and Cal Poly.
Visit ucanr.edu/sites/mgslo/ to apply or attend the next informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the UCCE Auditorium, 2156 Sierra Way in San Luis Obispo.
At the information meeting, attendees will have the chance to talk to veteran master gardeners, get more information on the application process, see what volunteer and education opportunities are available and tour the Seven Sisters demonstration garden.
There is also an upcoming Lunchtime in the Garden on Wednesday, July 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. You are encouraged to bring a lunch, look at the plants, talk to Master Gardeners or just sit and enjoy the garden at 2156 Sierra Way in San Luis Obispo.
