Man hit, killed by train south of Paso Robles


PASO ROBLES — A man was hit and killed by a train south of Paso Robles on Tuesday, Feb. 5, the Paso Robles Police Department reported.

The man, whose name has not been released pending notification of family, was hit by an Amtrak train at about 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. The Amtrak Coastal Starlight train was headed north on the tracks.

The man reportedly was walking on the tracks about a half of a mile from the Niblick Bridge south of Spring Street. The conductor reportedly blew the train’s horn, but the man did not move off of the tracks.

The Paso Robles Police Department and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the incident.
