Lonnie Haberkern, formerly of Atascadero, passed away earlier this month in Troy, Ohio. She was 91 years old.
She was the fourth child of Lonnie and Ellen Killion, originally from Texas.
Lonnie is survived by her daughter, Pat and son-in-law Bob, of Troy, Ohio; son Fred and daughter-in-law Beth, of Los Osos, Calif.; grandson Ryan, his wife Tanja, their son William, and daughter Rose of Martinsburg, Pa.; granddaughter Karlee and her husband Dillon, serving at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Also surviving are Lonnie’s sister, Grace Stinnett, of Santa Paula, Calif. ; brother Lewis Killion and sister-in-law Amelee of Atascadero, Calif. ; brother Roy Killion and sister-in-law Shirley of Fresno, Calif.; sister-in-law Shirley Guy of Sun City, Ariz.; and brother-in-law Bob Carroll of Concord, Calif. Lonnie’s husband of 58 years, Jack, died in 2004.
Lonnie loved her family and was always up for a “Killion get-together” that involved barbecue, homemade salsa and beans, and often a Texas sheet cake. Her son-in-law Bob was a big fan of her apple pies. When her health was better, she enjoyed long walks, visiting with friends and relatives, and watching “Jeopardy” on TV. She was an avid reader as well.
Lonnie donated her body to the medical school at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. In due course, her cremated remains will be returned to her family and she will be taken home to California.
