TEMPLETON — 805 Youth Lacrosse Association boys high school lacrosse club opened its inaugural season on Saturday, March 3 with two games against teams from Bakersfield. The 805 Sharks play in the Pacific Lacrosse League, in which they are now 2-0 after sweeping both games last weekend.
In the opening game, the Sharks hosted the Bakersfield Rams and tallied their first goal
The Sharks controlled the second half — tallying three unanswered goals and holding the Rams scoreless for the first win of their season and their first win in program history (Schoenthal 2 goals; Hughes 1 goal/1 assist, and McMaster 1 goal). Jackson Hays had five saves in the first half and blanked the Rams in the second half, recording a total of 10 saves for the day and earning the player of the game honors.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Sharks hosted the Bakersfield Mustangs and dominated the game from start to finish. Leading 12–0 starting in the third period, the Sharks continued to display their offensive prowess, scoring four more goals and only allowing the Mustangs to score their first and only goal of the game in the third period. The 805 Sharks won the second game of the PLL season with a final score of 16-1 (McMaster 3 goals, 1 assist; Hughes 2 goals, 2 assists; Schoenthal 2 goals, 2 assists; Johnson 1 goal, 2 assists; Sosa 3 goals; Brownell 3 goals, 1 assist; Dostal 1 goal; and Acosta 1 goal; Hays 1 save, 1 goal allowed).
