Johnna Louise Beard-Andrus, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend was born on Aug. 20, 1952, in Long Beach, Calif. on Fort MacArthur. Johnna passed away peacefully at her home Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018. She was raised in Paso Robles, Calif. and attended Trinity Lutheran Church and School and Paso Robles High School. Johnna was an amazing athlete: a star basketball player nominated “Best girl basketball player of the year” at Paso Robles High School, tennis player, and played softball 16 years after she graduated high school.
She married former spouse Ed Heckman in 1978 and together they had their daughter, Theresa, in December of 1979. She was a loving mother, her daughter meant everything to her. She was involved in her daughter’s school by volunteering in PTA, school parades, as well as coaching basketball. She was loving and funny with eyes that sparkled and everyone who met her loved her. She loved her grandkids and always did her best to spoil them with a treat each time she saw them.
She remarried in 1990 to Michael Andrus. Together, they enjoyed camping along the California coastline and taking drives to the beach with their dog Sasha.
Johnna is survived by Michael Andrus, her husband of 29 years; her daughter, Theresa Hinton and son-in-law Ron Hinton; her grandchildren, Neveah and Trevor Hinton; and her brothers and sisters: Robert Johnson, Marilyn Parkin, Carol Dyste, Darlene Arebalo and Joe Beard. She was preceded in death by her mother, Leona Beard as well as her sister Kay Gunn.
A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 940 Creston Road in Paso Robles at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2.
