PASO ROBLES — Enjoy traditional New Orleans cuisine, celebrate Mardi Gras and help support college-bound youth at the Hispanic Business Association’s annual scholarship fundraiser on March 5 at the Park Ballroom in Paso Robles.
The Hispanic Business Association of San Luis Obispo County is be sponsoring its sixth annual Mardi Gras to benefit the HBA Scholarship Foundation for North County schools. This year’s event is also in memory of Richard Benitez who passed away on Oct. 6, 2018. Benitez was a long-time active member of the community and helped start the Hispanic Business Association. Education was a passion of his and he supported teachers, students throughout his life.
The goal this year for the event is to raise $10,000 for North County high school scholarships. This year HBA is partnering with the Hispanic Community Foundation to award scholarships for the youth in the North Country area.
Come show off your masks, beads, dress and green spirit for the costume contest. Enjoy food and signature cocktails and entertainment. A silent auction also rounds out the event which starts at 5:30 p.m.
The HBA will be presenting and honoring distinguished citizens. This year’s, HBA Paso Roblan Of the Year is Angelica Fortin, City Librarian El Paso De Robles City Library since 2016. Honorees for the Paso Robles community this year include Norma J. Moye, long-time executive director of the Paso Robles Downtown Main Street Association since 1992. Dr. Ahmad Nooristani founder of SLO Noor Foundation is the final honoree at this year’s event.
Tickets are $85, which includes dinner and one bar ticket. VIP tables are available and a table of eight includes dinner and drink tickets, two bottles of wine, and business promotion on the table.
