HERITAGE RANCH — A house caught on fire on the 2700 Block of Saddleback Lane in Heritage Ranch on June 17 —igniting vegetation nearby.

At approximately 3:40 p.m. Cal Fire San Luis Obispo County reported that they were on the scene working on a residential structure fire. Minutes later they reported that approximately one acre of nearby vegetation was burning. Within minutes it doubled in size to two acres at moderate speed. Additional equipment was dispatched as it had the potential to spread to 20 acres.

An air attack was called in and it was able to place a good retardant line around the fire where it held at 3 ½ acres. The house continued to be ablaze.

At about 4:15 p.m. firefighters were able to stop the forward progress of the vegetation fire and within the hour will have the vegetation fire fully extinguished. The two-story house firefight was assisted by Atascadero Fire, Templeton Fire and San Miguel Fire Department.
