PASO ROBLES — Due to the extreme heat over Labor Day weekend this year’s Golden State Classic Car show was down in numbers but could still be considered a huge success.
“Last year we had over 300 cars, but this year we had a little over 200 cars,” said Golden State Classic Car Club President Paulette Pahler. “We knew with the extreme heat people would not come to the event, but 200 cars gave people plenty of variety to see,”
Vehicles had to be 1979 or older and there was a $45 fee to participate in both the Friday night cruise and Saturday’s show in the downtown City Park. With Shawn Van Horn and Russ Johnson coordinating the event there were more than 80 club members who contributed to making the cruise and show a success. While this year’s number has yet to be determined, last year the club donated $10,000 to local charities from the proceeds.
