Frances Ruth Wieser, a longtime resident of Paso Robles passed away at her daughter’s home in Pleasanton, on Nov. 3 at the age of 97. Ruth was born on Sept. 10, 1921, in Santa Margarita and a short time later lived with her family in Adelaide.
She attended the Lincoln School from the first to the third grades and remembers riding a horse to school with her sister and brother. She also fondly talked of parties and dances she attended with her family throughout the rural areas surrounding Paso Robles. After moving “into town,” Ruth attended local schools and graduated from Paso Robles High School with the class of 1940.
Ruth was a long time parishioner of St. Rose Catholic Church. She cherished the friendships she made and enjoyed participating in the St. Rose Ladies Boutique, making gifts to be sold at the annual Christmas Boutique sale. She also enjoyed playing cards, going out to lunch with friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Hubert Wieser. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sharon Wieser Ough of Pleasanton; brother, Edward Martinez of Atascadero; brother, Bob Martinez of San Jose; two grandchildren, Sheila Dighans (Scott) and Stephanie Leonard (John), both of San Ramon and five great-grandchildren; Nicole, Zachary and Natalie Dighans; Sydney and Gabrielle Leonard and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth will be interred with her husband, Hubert, at Paso Robles Cemetery after a private family celebration of life.
