SANTA MARGARITA — California Women for Agriculture SLO County chapter will be hosting their 10th annual Burgers and Brews competition and festival. This event involves a night at the Santa Margarita Ranch enjoying locally grown meat and Central Coast brews.
Music and entertainment will be provided by Monte Mills and the Lucky Horseshoe Band to encourage people to dance the night away.
“We hope guests enjoy the family, ranch-style atmosphere as they cruise through the barn tasting locally raised beef, chicken, lamb and veggie sliders and locally brewed beers and ciders,” organizers stated. All burgers and brews are from farmers, chefs, caterers and breweries from the Central Coast.
The event will also include a contest to decide the best burger and brew of the Central Coast. “We will have three local ‘celebrity’ judges from the community to judge the Burgers and Brews competition,” organizers stated.
Restaurants and breweries can register to participate in the contest for a chance to win awards like Best of Show Award and People’s Choice Award.
Children are welcome to this event and are encouraged. A kids korner will be provided for kids to have fun and play games with local 4-H and FFA members.
The family-friendly event will have multiple vendor booths, a cornhole tournament, games for the kids, a silent auction as well as a silent dessert auction.
Burgers and Brews is CWA’s biggest fundraiser of the year to raise money for 4-H, FFA, and collegiate scholarships. These scholarships go toward supporting kids raising the following year’s livestock projects and to encourage future growth and knowledge in the field of agriculture.
